It's not a requirement in the standard, but in general it's best to also discard the previous slots.


The most common cause of framing errors is contact bounce while plugging/unplugging a cable. Because contact bounces tend to happen in bursts, it's likely the prior slots are also corrupt even if they look properly framed.
