Maximum # of responders when using RDM
 

I've been told that the maximum number of RDM capable fixtures(responders) on a universe is 32.. this is a number I've never heard before. Is this correct?

This is not a totally correct statement. The maximum # of DMX512 devices on a link is 32 (including controller). Technically it is 32 unit loads but we chose to keep it manageable by users by sticking to 32 devices in the standard. This is defined in ANSI E1.11.

Going through a splitter or repeater each generates a new link (within the same universe), so if you have a splitter in there you could have 32 devices on each output for the same universe.
