Cable shield connection questions

Hello,

It is pretty cear from the DMX spec that a transmitter must have <20Ohm between shield and chassis and a receiver (non isolated) must have 100Ohm.

This is cool BUT what if a device can be a RDM controller AND a RDM responder, depending on the mode?

Is it expected to switch in and out a 100Ohm resistor?
If it needs to be switched, is there a way to do it without a relay?

Kind regards
Bernt
