PRESET_PLAYBACK and Non volatile memory

Hi everyone,

i'm currently adding PRESET capability to a Dimmer. When PRESET_PLAYBACK is changed (for example from OFF to Scene 1) do I have to save this status to non -volatile memory? I mean: if my dimmer turns off than when it turns on again (while the controller remains on) what it is supposed to do? It should restore Scene 1 or it will restart reponding to DMX512 and would be up to the controller to check the responder status and restore the Scene 1?

Thanks!!!

The standard does not specify the required behaviour, however, I would suggest that the better option would be to maintain your configuration setting on power fail.

The way your dimmer behaves when it powers up may be controlled using the E1.37 DMX_STARTUP_MODE and DMX_FAIL_MODE configuration PIDs
