BREAK timing at the receiver
Hello,
This is the my question: can a DMX receiver consider a signal low level lower than 88us as a BREAK? If the answer in NO, this is a framing error (stop bit error): in this case may the receiver accept previous slots of the frame? DMX512-A 9.1 says it must only discard improperly framed slot data and all following slots in the packet. Am I right? Thank you |
It's not a requirement in the standard, but in general it's best to also discard the previous slots.
The most common cause of framing errors is contact bounce while plugging/unplugging a cable. Because contact bounces tend to happen in bursts, it's likely the prior slots are also corrupt even if they look properly framed. |
